IGFA Monthly Meeting

Nov 21,2018 - Time: 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm
Our meeting is on Wednesday, November 21 from 12:00pm-1:15pm at Silverstone Plaza: 3405 E. Overland Rd. in Meridian. ALL ARE WELCOME! Our Speaker this month is Joni Pursell. Topic: A candid conversation about Senior Abuse when it comes to their money. Cons, love, and what’s age got to do with it! And that will never happen to me…. Oh my, did I use the word Never? The presentation should help the participants:
  1. Understand that we are going to deal with financial abuse at some point. To listen, be aware, and ask questions.
  2. Understand that no one is immune to scams.
  3. Understand that we have resources. Acting quickly when it does happen can prevent so much pain.
About Joni Pursell Joni is committed to forming strong bonds of trust with her clients and collaborating with them to help align their investment goals and strategies with their life goals. She spends most of her time meeting with clients, gaining insight into their lives and helping them prioritize and pursue their aspirations. Joni considers the people she serves to be more than just clients – they are friends, professional colleagues and family. She believes in them, and their goals become her goals, too. A creative thinker, Joni prides herself in making finance interesting and exciting for her clients. She specializes in helping clients from all walks of life, including farmers and ranchers, who are experiencing important life transitions, whether it’s divorce, a career change, loss of a loved one, inheritance or retirement planning. While Joni doesn’t pretend to have all the answers, she’s confident she has all the resources to get the answers her clients need. Trustworthy and honest, Joni empowers clients by explaining the complexities of investing in ways that enable them to understand what their money is doing and where it is going. Joni started her career in the financial industry in 1984 by accepting a position at Idaho First National Bank. Three years later, she was recruited by MONY Financial Services, where she continued deepening her financial knowledge. Joni also served as a sales manager for ten years with a firm in Idaho. Her position enabled her to train, manage and motivate new advisors while managing her own book of business. She was also one of five individuals selected to initiate and Beta test the investment platform for West One Bank in select branches of the Boise, Idaho, region. Joni was then promoted to Investment Manager for the eastern region of Idaho, managing nine representatives in nine different branches, training, motivating, and assisted in the sales process while serving high net worth clients. In 2009, Joni joined Raymond James, a company with which she identifies due to its dynamic nature, reputation, due diligence, resources, rapid response to complicated issues and commitment to serve her clients with current technology and security oversight. In 2012, Joni added to her practice a Certification in Mediation. She does mediation for couple in the process of divorce. Divorce can be a highly charged area and sometimes it doesn’t bring out the best in individuals. Her unique ability and creative thinking allow them to come to a resolution that can work for both parties. Joni is, and has been a lifelong committed student. Every year she is committed to continuing education in her field as well as classes that bring her pleasure. She is currently taking a creative writing course and is working on her book “YRUW8NG”. An active member of her community, Joni served as president for the Boise Women’s Business Center, an organization she’s was involved with for three years. She also served as a board member for the nonprofit Walking the Talk, which has been used in schools throughout Idaho and Arizona to help build self-esteem for students. Joni also does motivational speaking for various groups and events. She coaches and mentors’ individuals in business. Joni was born and raised in Twin Falls, Idaho, and still resides in her home state in Eagle with her husband Clyde. She has two children. Daughter, Shea, lives in Boise with her husband, Michael, and their kids, Tegan, Langlei, Mason and Madeline; Son, Chase lives in Star and has two daughters who are his pride and joy, Mila and Keely. IGFA Annual Event!

The 2017 IGFA Annual Event was a huge success! For 2018 IGFA will not be having an annual event. The Idaho Guardian and Fiduciary Association’s Board of Directors has set a goal for 2018 of creating 3 to 4 new training programs as well as offer a four-part Fundamentals training series this year. We hope to create an additional 3-4 trainings next year. These training programs will be focused on helping family and volunteer guardians and conservators as well as those who support and/or provide service to them.
