Our Events page is a great way to see what’s going on at IGFA as well as what’s going on in our community! As an added bonus to our IGFA members, this page is also a place to advertise events they are a part of or events they want to highlight. Take a look to see what’s happening in the Treasure Valley!

IGFA Monthly Meeting

Oct 17,2018 - Time: 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm
Our Speaker this month is Matthew Jordan, MT-BC. He will be sharing on the topic of Music Therapy with Older Adults. The presentation will focus on understanding the use of music with older adults through music experiential, stories, and academic discussion.  The presentation should help the participants:
1) Understand how music is processed differently in the brain than speech which gives a unique experience for people who have had trauma in the brain.
2) Understand difference of music therapy from other more general music making.
3) Understand how music therapy effects patients with dementia, stroke, and/or a terminal illness diagnosis.
Matthew Jordan received a bachelor\'s degree from Brigham Young University in music in 2002.  He went back to school 2 years later to Utah State University to receive a board certification as a music therapist which was a two year educational course followed by a six month internship.  After completing his internship in 2008, Matthew started practicing music therapy first for a hospice company.  For the past 6 years he has run his private practice, Music Makes Connections.  Matthew has experience doing music therapy with adults with dementia, patients with aphasia due to a stroke, and people of all ages with developmental delays.  Matthew and his wife Sarah are the proud parents of 8 children ranging in age from 17 to 1 year old. *No Registration Necessary

The 2018 National Conference on Guardianship

Renaissance Palm Springs  October 20 – 23, 2018 From inspiring and informative general sessions to specific topics covered in breakout sessions, the 2018 National Conference on Guardianship has something to benefit every guardian, fiduciary, conservator, or allied professional. This year’s theme, “An Oasis of Knowledge” was inspired by the literal oasis of our destination of Palm Springs, while also referencing the relief that many guardians feel when they realize that their challenges are shared by others across the country. From our Saturday Welcome Reception until we adjourn on Tuesday, you’ll grow by networking with others in your profession and by participating in the targeted sessions our featured speakers have developed. No Registration through this site.

IGFA Annual Event!

The 2017 IGFA Annual Event was a huge success! For 2018 IGFA will not be having an annual event. The Idaho Guardian and Fiduciary Association’s Board of Directors has set a goal for 2018 of creating 3 to 4 new training programs as well as offer a four-part Fundamentals training series this year. We hope to create an additional 3-4 trainings next year. These training programs will be focused on helping family and volunteer guardians and conservators as well as those who support and/or provide service to them.
